Stephen Fry and zoologist Mark Carwardine head to the ends of the Earth in search of animals on the edge of extinction, following the route Mark took 20 years ago with the author Douglas Adams. They set out to discover how the lugubrious Amazonian manatee, a freshwater mammal, has survived the last two decades, but Stephen breaks his arm deep in the Amazon rainforest.</p>
<p>S01E02 Northern White Rhino<br />
Stephen Fry and zoologist Mark Carwardine head to the ends of the earth in search of animals on the edge of extinction. On a journey across Africa towards the war-torn Congo, the travellers encounter chimpanzees, gorillas and elephants, but are there any northern white rhinos still alive in the wild? The news is not good but there is some hope in the remarkable project under way to save the black rhino in Kenya.</p>
<p>S01E03 Aye-Aye<br />
Stephen Fry and zoologist Mark Carwardine head to the ends of the earth in search of animals on the edge of extinction. In Madagascar, the travellers encounter the biggest and the smallest lemurs on earth. But they are searching for the aye-aye, a peculiar lemur which, according to local legend, brings death to those who encounter it.</p>
<p>S01E04 Komodo Dragon<br />
On a journey through Malaysia and Indonesia to track down the deadly Komodo dragon, the travellers help to release turtles into the wild and encounter one of the deadliest snakes on earth.</p>
<p>S01E05 Kakapo<br />
In New Zealand the travellers make their way through one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. They are on a journey to find the last remaining kakapo, a fat, flightless parrot which, when threatened with attack, adopts a strategy of standing very still indeed.</p>
<p>S01E06 Blue Whale<br />
In a dramatic conclusion to the series, the travellers have a close encounter with grey whales and meet the deadly Humboldt squid in a search for the mighty blue whale, the biggest creature that has ever lived.<br />

<p>I&#8217;ve been looking at this book for over a month and marveling at the amazing information packed inside. This book was printed on &#8220;100% recycled paper&#8221; by a member of the Green Initiative and a listing of the resources saved are listed in the front. The inside has no glossy pages and is actually quite dull looking in black and white. BUT, you&#8217;ll have to travel far and wide to find a more interesting and unique book that not only discusses critical environmental issues, but also pres many hands-on projects for its readers. In the back of the book is a glossary, an index and additional recommended book, periodical, environmental and web site resources for children. Can&#8217;t go wrong with this book!<br />
